Counseling Social Work Internship

Qualifications:

  • Enrolled as a second-year field placement in an MSW Or Clinical Counseling program.
  • Ability to work well with others and collaborate with the team effectively.
  • Creation and documentation of related reports and data as required.
  • Complete weekly process recordings for the Clinical Supervisor.
  • Social Work interns are expected to attend staff meetings, peer consultations, clinical seminars, and clinical supervision.
  • Hours must fall within Monday-Friday, 8:30 am – 8:00 pm and 3 in-person days are required.
  • Interns participate in training for Child Abuse and Maltreatment for Mandated Reporters, SI/HI assessments, motivational interviewing, and LGBTQIA+ support.
  • Some evening hours will be expected.
  • All interns report to a fully Licensed Professional Counselor/ Approved Clinical Supervisor (ACS) who guides them through a school year-long internship.

Job Description:

Interns get hands-on experience working in a clinical setting, serving both children and adults of all ages. Interns are responsible for assisting fully licensed clinicians with treatment, case management and one short-term therapy group. Interns are expected to attend staff meetings, peer consultation, clinical seminars, and clinical supervision Hours must fall within Monday-Friday, 8:30 am – 8:00 pm and three in-person days are required. Some evening hours will be expected, and schedules will be created with support from the social work intern supervisor. Interns participate in training for Child Abuse and Maltreatment for Mandated Reporters, SI/HI assessments, motivational interviewing, and LGBTQIA+ support. All interns report to a fully Licensed Professional Counselor/ Approved Clinical Supervisor (ACS) who guides them through a year year-long internship.


Job Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Complete bi-weekly supervision with the Clinical Supervisor
  • Complete weekly process recordings for the Clinical Supervisor
  • Provide individual and group counseling services to clients.
  • Participates as a member of the multi-disciplinary team, creates and writes treatment goals in collaboration with the client, and reports on goal progress.
  • Consult with other program caseworkers, psychiatrists, and nurse practitioners to ensure quality of care.
  • Complete assessments as appropriate, to determine the extent of progress and effectiveness of therapy.
  • Maintains appropriate data on clients to document present levels of depression, anxiety, or suicidal ideation.
  • Establishes and monitors the necessary caseloads, procedures, and resources to manage mental health services for clients.
  • Adheres to the ethical standards and codes of the profession.
  • Participate in activities that promote professional development and use clinical/educational research to enhance therapy services.
  • Supports and follows the policies and procedures of Wellness Counseling’s commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion, and anti-racism.
  • Submits records, reports, and assignments promptly (within legal timelines) and efficiently
  • Demonstrates ability to adjust to and use new approaches in the performance of their duties


Knowledge and Skills:

  • Creation and documentation of related reports and data as required.
